So I am recovering from the worst cold I’ve had in a decade!
I’m hearing from friends and colleagues that they were never sick from work until they had children!
And my son isn’t even in daycare or school yet, so imagine what’s to come!
Anyway, because I’ve been so lethargic I’ve been doing the bare minimum.
And that had me thinking…
Maybe some people with chronic medical conditions, and/or who are chronically medicated, feel similar, and do the bare minimum! Because they just don’t have the energy!
You might think that if you have a medical condition, it’s ok, because there is technology and medication to “fix” you.
But the thing is, you really can’t beat the natural functioning of the body, when it is in peak, or close to peak state.
Many (not all) medical ailments and conditions are related to poor lifestyle choices.
Sometimes, there isn’t a diagnosed disease, but the body functions are just off. You feel sluggish, and just aren’t able to perform as you know you should.
You don’t have that extra energy to make that contribution to your community that you’d really like.
Imagine if you started paying attention to your lifestyle and diet…
Going out of your way to get moving…just taking a simple 15-30 minute walk, a few times per week.
Going out of your way to drink 1 or 2 less sodas or bottles of juice per day.
Buying 1 less fast-food meal per week and instead having a home prepared meal made with real food.
If you slowly made these lifestyle changes, after a few months, you might actually notice that you lost a few pounds!
You will probably notice also that you have more energy.
You might start feeling so good, that you realize you were really quite malaised for many years!
Feeling so good, you might be able to do that volunteer work you always wanted to do, and make a positive difference in other people’s lives.
Or start that side hustle and make some extra money!!
Don’t underestimate the massive effects of a few positive lifestyle changes.
Remember…a journey of 1000 miles starts with 1 step!
Go take that 1st step today for better health for tomorrow!
What step will you take this week towards better health in the future?
Putting it in writing will hold you more accountable!
